The vision for the gardens
An accessible organic garden space in central Auckland where people from diverse backgrounds can come together to share in the growing of plants and produce.
Background
CCS Disability Action has a valuable and unique horticultural resource that it wants to offer for wider community use. CCS Disability Action has moved away from segregated services for disabled people and into an inclusive community approach and the gardens, which used to be solely for the use of disabled people are now available to the wider community.
CCS Disability Action is keen to promote this productive organic garden in the middle of the city to individuals and groups as a place where community can gather and share in a unique experience.
As an organisation CCS Disability Action is committed to building an inclusive community which recognises and values the contributions of all its members. The gardens provide an opportunity for people from diverse backgrounds to come together to share in an experience which is has wide health and social benefits.
We welcome interest and involvement from anyone in the community. For more details, please contact the CCS Disability Action Community Gardens Coordinator Scott Thiemann on 09 625 9811 or by email
