JUBILEE TRUST FUNDING

In partnership with CCS Disability Action

The Jubilee Trust makes the following grants to people with physical disabilities living in Northland, Auckland and Whakatane:

Alan Cook/June Opie Trust


Application process for all Jubilee Trust Grants
CCS Disability Action administers the grant process and makes funding recommendations to each Trust for approval.  All applications take between four to six weeks to process.

Reporting
It will be a condition of any grant that successful applicants provide a brief written report to the Trust on the use of funds, within a one year period.  In all cases, the funds are to be used for the purpose requested.

JUBILEE TRUST GENERAL GRANTS FUND

Background
Applications to the Jubilee Trust General Grants Fund are made for a wide range of purposes and are available all year round.

Applications
There are no application forms. Applications are to be in writing and must specify:

• the name/names of the person(s) making the application
• the amount required (grants are typically limited to $2,500 per application)
  *please provide quotes for items or proof of expenditure
• how the money will be used (funding will not be paid for retrospective costs)
• how the grant will benefit you
• details of your contribution to the project
• whether alternative funding options have been explored and, if so, include details and outcomes
• if alternative funding has not been explored, please explain why
• if you are applying for conference/travel costs, you must be able to meet some of the costs either  yourself or from other sources.

Note: funding is not available for items that would typically be government funded.

Dates
Applications are open all year round and should be received at least four – six weeks in advance of when the funds are actually required.

 


JUBILEE TRUST EDUCATION GRANTS:

McPhee/Starling/Ladies Committee Grants

Background
This fund was established to recognise the contributions made to CCS Disability Action by Malcolm McPhee, Dr Mike Starling and the Ladies Auxiliary Committee.

Details
Northland, Auckland and Whakatane students who have a physical disability and are in their first or second year of study at a tertiary level can apply for a grant of $1,000. 

Applications
There are no application forms. Applications are to be in writing and should set out the following:
• the name of the person applying for the grant
• how the grant will benefit you
• how the money will be used toward your study
• a breakdown of costs
• proof of enrolment with a tertiary education provider
• if you are in your second year of study you must provide a transcript of results from your first year.

Dates
Applications must be received by 15 January of each year.


Jubilee Trust Scholarships

Details
The Jubilee Trust Scholarship supports Northland, Auckland and Whakatane students who have physical disabilities and who are entering their final year of study at a tertiary level in New Zealand or overseas. 

The Jubilee Trust favours applicants who display leadership qualities in any capacity.

Two scholarships of $7,500 each are available.

If your application is successful you must be willing to support CCS Disability Action in some capacity, for example: public relations, community education, leadership, mentoring or a governance role. 

Successful candidates will be expected to provide an end of year report on their progress, to the Jubilee Trust.

Applications
There are no application forms. Applications are to be in writing and should set out the following:
• the name of the person applying for the grant
• how the grant will benefit you
• how the money will be used toward your study
• a breakdown of costs
• proof of enrolment with a tertiary education provider
• evidence of your previous years study and a transcript of your results.

Process
You will be required to deliver a 10 minute verbal or electronic submission as part of the selection process on the value of the scholarship and your future intentions.

Applications must be received by 15 January of each year.

 

ALAN COOK/JUNE OPIE TRUST

Background
The original June Opie Trust was established in 1961 by June Opie who contracted polio in her early 20’s.  The Trust was established for the purpose of encouraging the use of supplying technological equipment to benefit people with disabilities.

In 1990 the fund was combined with income from the Alan Cook Memorial Trust.  Alan Cook was Secretary, then Director of the Crippled Children’s Society, the predecessor to CCS Disability Action, from 1947 to 1972.

Details
The Alan Cook/June Opie Trust provides grants for the purchase of computer and technical equipment that will assist people with physical disabilities.  The purpose of the Alan Cook/June Opie Trust is to:

• develop disabled people’s communication skills through self-expression in areas such as reading, writing and speaking
• promote mobility and physical independence.

There are no application forms. Applications are to be in writing and should set out the following:
• the name of the person applying for the grant
• how the grant will benefit you
• how the money will be used
• a breakdown of costs
• the amount required (grants are typically limited to $2,500 per application).


Process
The Alan Cook/June Opie Trust ensures that people applying for assistance from the Trust are in financial need (either full or in part), and are unable to provide technology aids out of their own resources.

Successful grant applications are paid upon receipt of the original invoice from the company/organisation providing the equipment/service, and payment is made directly to the company/organisation.

Dates
Applications close 1 May each year.

 

 


H E FAIREY FAMILY TRUST

The H E Fairey Family Trust provides funding for individuals with a physical impairment who receive ongoing support from CCS Disability Action.

Applications can be sent at any time during the year and are usually turned around within six weeks. The Wilson Home Trust will only fund individuals and families up to a maximum of $5,000; this amount can be made up of a number of applications but will not exceed $5,000.

 


 

HALBERG TRUST ACTIVITY FUND

The Halberg Trust Activity Fund provides grants to enable young people with a disability to participate in sport and active leisure within their community by supporting the additional costs associated with having a disability.
An application can be made to support disabled youth to participate in physical activities or to access equipment. Decisions regarding applications are made on a monthly basis by a committee. Applications are welcome year round.

Grants may be applied for by individuals, families or organisations working with children. Grants are received and considered every month.
